This
week we're going to talk about letting yourself really go there. Go
into those emotions and feelings and really let them run their
course. I know we just talked about keeping our hopes up last week,
but today we're going to talk about what happens when you are
feeling emotions and how to process them.
My daughter and I had a little girl's day last week and it
involved a drive to our new house. It's a little bit of a drive and
I found myself listening to James Taylor and getting emotional. I
didn't even realize that I was stuffing down any emotions, but BOOM
out of nowhere they hit me. I've been doing some big life changes,
like a big move, trying to sell a home, so many details to deal
with and I've obviously hit an exhaustion stage.
There is NOTHING wrong with feeling those emotions. Letting
you mentally process them and think through the why. It's ok to
feel overwhelmed, sad, and just upset. And there is no harm in
letting yourself really go there. I usually really hold back and
keep the tears from flowing. But it really hit me that it can be
good to feel, and then return back to a positive
attitude.
A good cry is healing! We're all carrying a lot of weight
around. Heavy burdens deserve to be processed and felt!
If you haven't read The Shack, I highly recommend it. The
beginning of the book is hard and heavy but keep going! There are
many symbols and reminders that your tears can be healing and that
they are so precious to God.
Feel the feelings and then heal from them. Not avoiding means
you have to sometimes experience painful emotions to move on
from them!
I’m SO glad you’re joining me on this journey of
finding your self-worth. Your support means everything to me!
